To celebrate the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, we decided to shine the spotlight on those countries not fortunate enough to make it to Rio.
So we gathered one comedian from eight different countries that didn’t qualify, and pitted them against each other in a bid to see which country really was the world’s biggest loser. It was a nationalist version of making tramps fight for money. Only with less dignity.
Nick Hancock presided over events, as an impartial (and slightly smug) Englishman in a contest which saw Canada (Katherine Ryan) eventually take the spoils and become the reigning champions of the Losers’ World Cup.
