When the Welsh Assembly imposed a 5p charge on plastic bags, they ended up with more money than they knew what to do with. So, obviously, they bought a disused Antarctic research station from the North Korean government to keep the cash off the books and auditors off their backs. What they weren’t expecting was Scot Edwards, a man who actually wanted to do some science.
